A woman wakes at three in the morning to a silence with edges: the crickets have stopped, the refrigerator hum is gone, and the dark has the too-still quality of a held breath. Heaviness arrives next, sourceless, faster than sleep. She has read this section, and so she lets the weight be, breathes slowly, and releases each wave of fear as it arrives, settling into a calm that is steady and quietly confident. A tone rises in one ear, pure and thin, holds, and recedes. The heaviness lifts. The crickets resume. Whatever had approached withdrew. She met it as a participant, from a gathered state, and the morning that follows is ordinary.

The encounter material is vast, internally contradictory, and partially inaccessible by design. What follows is the common architecture, the elements that recur with sufficient consistency to warrant inclusion here. The citizen's own experience may contain all of these, some, or none in recognizable form. Memory interference, deliberate modification of recall, and the limits of human perceptual translation are built into the process. The citizen's experience of it will be their own.

Familial Lineage Trace

A structured encounter experienced in isolation is one event. The same encounter understood as one instance in a longitudinal program tracking a specific family line across generations is another. Most citizens who experience repeat contact are carrying a genetic and field profile that is known to at least one NHI category, and has been for generations.

What lineage tracking involves:

Lineage tracking is the longitudinal monitoring of specific human genetic and field lineages across generations. NHI categories engaged in hybridization programs, psionic development programs, or long-term biological research maintain genealogies of human family lines, tracking the inheritance of specific genetic markers, psionic capacity configurations, field architecture profiles, and lineage patterns across multiple generations.

What lineage acquisition involves:

Acquisition is the active collection of biological or field material from individuals within a tracked lineage. This may include genetic sampling during structured encounters, collection of biological material without the citizen's awareness or consent, field-level data extraction during contact events, and in some cases the placement of hybrid offspring within human family lines to introduce or consolidate specific genetic configurations across subsequent generations.

NHI categories most associated with lineage operations:

• Short Grey-type units — field execution of acquisition procedures; the primary contact point for most citizens who encounter lineage-related procedures
• Tall Grey-type intelligences — oversight and direction of lineage programs; the operational layer above Grey field units
• Mantid-type intelligences — long-view genetic and developmental oversight; maintain the deepest longitudinal genealogies; described as architects of multi-generational development programs
• Ancient Engineer class — the oldest layer of lineage interest; associated with the original design of the human template and ongoing monitoring of its expression across populations

How citizens identify the pattern:

Lineage tracking produces recognizable patterns across family histories. The primary indicator is multiple generations of structured encounters where the pattern includes examination procedures, genetic sampling, or the consistent appearance of specific NHI types. Additional markers:

• Recurring contact across multiple family members across generations — parent and child, grandparent and grandchild — with consistent NHI types appearing in each generation
• Anomalous medical findings across family lines — unusual physiological characteristics, unexplained biological anomalies, or medical markers that fall outside known hereditary conditions
• High rates of psionic capacity, empathic sensitivity, or contact-adjacent experience across multiple family members, beyond statistical probability
• Family oral history that includes anomalous aerial phenomena, unexplained presences, or contact-adjacent events predating the modern disclosure period

Field implications for the citizen:

A citizen who identifies a lineage tracking pattern in their family history is carrying information of operational significance. The context changes the nature of any encounter they experience from random event to pattern event, and changes the appropriate response to steady awareness.

The sovereignty principles and contact protocols described in Section 9 apply with full force regardless of lineage status. Individual sovereignty holds in the present moment regardless of any pre-entry agreement associated with lineage participation. The Higher Consent Framework in Section 9 addresses this directly. A citizen in a lineage program has the same rights as any other citizen and the same recourse when those rights are violated.

Multi-generational contact patterns carry evidentiary value in the civilian registry. Citizens who identify one are encouraged to document what is known and submit through the standard channel.

Parallel Acquisition — Human-Conducted Acquisitions

The acquisition described above is the NHI dimension of involuntary encounter. There is a parallel human program dimension that the citizen requires equal awareness of.

Human intelligence programs have demonstrated both the capability and the inclination to conduct parallel acquisition of individuals who have had NHI encounters. The logic is direct: an individual selected by NHI for contact carries something that NHI considered worth examining, a genetic profile, a psionic baseline, a lineage marker, or some other quality that the contact event demonstrates. Human programs studying the NHI presence want to understand what that quality is.

The methodology proceeds in phases:

• Initial surveillance: unmarked vehicles and unverifiable individuals in proximity to the subject's residence or workplace
• Approach under fabricated federal credentials and institutional affiliation
• Detention using pharmaceutical agents administered without consent
• Multi-day interrogation at an undisclosed location under the cover of involuntary psychiatric hold
• Release, with an explicit warning to cease disclosure activity

The distinguishing markers between NHI and human acquisition: human operations leave a ground-level logistical trace, vehicles, personnel, physical locations, institutional affiliation however fabricated. NHI acquisition leaves a different signature: missing time, physiological aftereffects, implant evidence, and screen memory residue (a substituted recollection overlaying the event; the mechanism is covered in Section 6, Memory Interface). When a citizen experiences what appears to be an NHI encounter and subsequently experiences what appears to be institutional surveillance or contact, the two events are most likely related. Document both. Submit both through standard channels.

Why It Happens

The intent question is the one most citizens want answered first. Multiple operators conduct structured encounters for different purposes, and which framework applies stays opaque to the citizen during the experience.

The purposes across encounters include:

• Genetic resource extraction from a template of unusual density and latent capacity
• Longitudinal psionic development tracking across family lineages
• Hybridization program advancement: the introduction of hybrid genetic configurations into human populations and the monitoring of their expression across generations
• Timeline correction conducted by collapse-lineage operators returning to repair or preserve a viable genetic baseline they no longer carry
• And in a smaller subset, something oriented toward developmental contact: initiation, uplift, or the deliberate expansion of a citizen's perception field

These purposes overlap and may be indistinguishable from the citizen's perspective during the encounter. The being conducting a genetic extraction and the being conducting a developmental contact may present identically to a human observer whose access to the event is already compromised.

Before Contact — The Environmental Signature

Structured encounters rarely arrive without environmental precursors. The citizen who knows what to notice may recognize the approach before any being appears.

Animal silence is the most consistent indicator: sudden complete cessation of ambient sound. Birds, insects, dogs, and other animals stop simultaneously as if a switch has been thrown. The effect has been described as the environment holding its breath. It precedes visible contact in the majority of close encounters.

Electromagnetic interference follows or accompanies the silence: vehicle failure, electronic devices behaving abnormally, compasses deviating, radios producing static or going silent. A low sub-audible hum appears in a subset of encounters, felt as much as heard, producing a physical sensation of pressure or vibration in the chest and skull. A perceptual quality of unreality precedes many bedroom intrusion and outdoor encounters: the sense that the immediate environment has become slightly wrong, slightly too still, too flat, too focused. The citizen is already in a modified state before the beings are visible.

Practical Note: Animal silence, electromagnetic interference, and the perceptual shift toward stillness are an approach signature, and the interval they open is usable. Establish coherence at the first indicator, before any onset sedation arrives: the field state you carry into the onset window is the one that operates inside it.

Field location through visual perception:

Every conscious being broadcasts continuously into the collective field. NHI intelligences with monitoring capability are scanning a field already dense with signal from every conscious being in the vicinity, active surveillance. The citizen was already broadcasting; perceiving the specific light configuration of a craft makes their signal distinguishable from the field noise for an intelligence actively scanning for that precise pattern. The act of perception (the moment of recognition of the specific light arrangement, its behavior, its geometry) produces a field response in the citizen that is specific enough to resolve out of the collective background. The monitoring system is finding a match to a pattern it was already scanning for.

The mechanism extends beyond the physical layer. The visual cortex operates on a principle called retinotopic mapping: when the eye perceives a pattern of light, neurons fire in a spatial arrangement that directly mirrors the geometry of what is being seen. The brain instantiates the light array in its own tissue. When a citizen's consciousness actively engages with and becomes aware of that pattern (genuine, active recognition), the citizen's presence in the higher-density dimensional layers activates in the same geometric signature. The neural firing pattern in the visual cortex has a direct correlate in the dimensional equivalent of the citizen's consciousness field. The pattern the craft broadcasts into the physical layer is the same pattern that resolves in the monitoring intelligence's native layer the moment the citizen consciously engages with it. The craft and the citizen's field are momentarily running the same geometry. The location resolves across all layers simultaneously.

This mechanism operates within proximity constraints. Field signal density in a populated area (thousands of conscious beings in close range, many potentially perceiving the same lights simultaneously) makes individual signal resolution difficult. A single citizen in a remote environment produces a field signature that resolves cleanly against near-zero background noise. The same citizen in a dense urban environment is one signal among thousands. The correlation between observation and escalation to contact is most unambiguous in wilderness settings for this reason: the isolation is a condition that makes precise location resolution practical. NHI can and do locate citizens in populated areas, but the signal environment requires more from the monitoring system and produces less reliable resolution. The wilderness does the location work for them.

The practical implication is open awareness: observation of a craft initiates a field transaction because genuine recognition produces a field response specific enough to be located.

The Encounter Architecture

The Onset Sequence — Sedation, Tone, and Paralysis:

The onset of structured contact follows a consistent sequence across witnesses independent of one another. Understanding the sequence allows the citizen to orient during the event and stay gathered through the sudden loss of motor control.

Practical Note: The sequence is sedation, tone, paralysis. If sourceless heaviness arrives, begin the coherence practice immediately, before the tone: Protocol 1 — Against Paralysis Fields (Section 13) works best when it is already running as the field engages.

Sudden sedation:

The first indicator is frequently an overwhelming and sourceless onset of fatigue, a sedation-quality heaviness that arrives without cause and progresses faster than natural sleep onset, distinct from tiredness produced by exertion. The citizen may be mid-activity, fully awake, and at full energy. The sedation arrives all at once, as an event. The most consistent mechanism proposed across research into non-ordinary paralysis states is external electromagnetic field engagement of the thalamus, the brain's sleep-onset switch. Specific frequency ranges applied externally can trigger the same descending inhibitory cascade the thalamus initiates to begin sleep. The citizen's consciousness is being taken from outside their control.

The high-pitched tone:

As the field engagement deepens, the majority of citizens report a high-pitched tone, a single frequency, often described as extremely pure, arriving in one or both ears, distinct from tinnitus in its sudden onset and precise quality. This tone is the audible edge of a broader frequency event. Research documents that high-frequency sound components above the normal audible range activate the midbrain and diencephalon, the brain region containing the thalamus, hypothalamus, and pineal gland. The citizen's auditory system is registering the lowest edge of a frequency range whose primary mechanism is operating above and potentially below conscious hearing simultaneously. The tone marks that the field engagement has reached the depth at which the pineal and thalamic systems are being directly addressed.

Citizens whose pineal architecture is more functional (whose crystalline structures are less calcified and whose secretory systems are more active) report the tone as a more complex signal, sometimes carrying a layered or harmonic quality. Citizens with more compromised pineal function report the tone as more abrupt and disorienting. The biological restoration work described in Section 8 determines the quality of what the citizen is able to receive and process during the onset sequence: it is encounter preparation.

Motor pathway suppression — paralysis:

Following or concurrent with the tone, motor pathway suppression becomes complete. All voluntary movement ceases. The suppression is total and immediate, distinct from natural sleep paralysis, which is gradual and partial. The mechanism is consistent with the same REM-atonia pathway the brain uses to prevent the body from acting out dreams, here applied from outside the sleep cycle. The citizen remains conscious, perceptually active, and aware of their environment. Only voluntary motor output is suppressed. The emotional suppression is as consistent as the physical immobilization: many citizens describe a strange dreamlike passivity, as if the fear response has been removed along with motor control.

Field-based suppression is the primary mechanism, and it takes hold before any physical contact or instrument. A secondary, instrumental tool appears where the field alone proved insufficient and a citizen remained agitated, combative, or resistant: a device consistently described as black, cylindrical, approximately pencil-sized, emitting a bluish-white beam when activated. It numbs human will painlessly. The device recurs across encounters spanning decades and geographies from witnesses isolated from one another, giving it greater evidential weight than details attributable to cultural diffusion.

The practical window:

Between sedation onset and complete motor suppression there is a window, variable in duration but consistently present, in which the citizen retains partial voluntary capacity. This window is the most consequential moment in the encounter sequence. A citizen who recognizes the onset sequence and understands what is happening can use this window to establish coherence and hold steady as fear rises. Fear at this stage locks the citizen into the passive compliance state. Coherence at this stage changes the quality of everything that follows. The citizen who arrives at the full encounter already in a gathered, stable field state is perceived differently, engaged with differently, and retains more of the experience afterward. The protocols in Section 9 and Section 13 are designed for this window.

Transport:

Transit from the citizen's location to the encounter environment takes several forms:

• A beam of light producing the sensation of being lifted or drawn upward
• Floatation: movement through space without physical contact, sometimes through solid surfaces including walls, windows, and ceilings
• And in a smaller subset of encounters, an instantaneous transition: the citizen is in one place and then in another
• In vehicle encounters, the vehicle is sometimes moved with its occupants: awareness resumes kilometers from the encounter point, in terrain the vehicle could pass through in no ordinary way, with no arrival tracks in snow or soil, and with the vehicle placed and oriented for the only safe exit the ground allows

Passage through solid matter is consistent with the guide's dimensional framework: a being or a citizen in a modified field state operating at a frequency differential from ordinary physical matter passes through it as through air. The wall remains what it is. The citizen's relationship to its solidity temporarily changes.

The craft interior:

What the citizen finds inside exceeds the exterior volume of whatever they observed from outside. This is consistently reported by citizens isolated from each other, describing vast internal spaces, long corridors, multiple chambers, areas larger than the craft exterior could hold under any conventional spatial logic.

The craft exterior functions as a threshold, an access point into a spatial domain that exists in a different dimensional manifold. The citizen passes through a portal that the craft marks. What they enter exists in a geometry beyond standard three-dimensional spatial rules. The exterior is the door. The interior is a different space, accessible only through that door.

Personnel:

Grey-type field operators conduct the majority of procedures. They work efficiently, without explanation, and with the specific task-orientation described in GR-1: moving continuously, executing predetermined procedures, and attending to the citizen only as the subject of those procedures. Tall Grey oversight appears in a subset of encounters, typically those involving more complex procedures or citizens of lineage significance. Mantid-type presences appear in high-significance encounters, those involving major genetic collection events, lineage assessments, or encounters that carry a developmental purpose beyond extraction. Human-presenting presences in encounter contexts are rare and carry a different quality: present in an observational or guidance capacity, with an emotional register, warmth, genuine attention, communication oriented toward the citizen's comprehension. These qualities distinguish them from every other personnel type.

Specialist collection units:

A subset of Tall Grey-type intelligences appears in reproductive collection contexts, encounters involving genetic extraction from male subjects. The female-presenting variant displays characteristics distinct from standard Tall Grey profiles: black or dark hair of short to medium length, large black eyes, and a presentation witnesses describe as more human-adjacent than other Grey variants. A specific anatomical detail warrants documentation: the reproductive anatomy of this variant appears modular, described as resembling an attachable or removable apparatus. The most coherent interpretation is that the reproductive apparatus is engineered equipment deployed for collection procedures.

Procedures:

Physical examination is the most consistent procedure, the body assessed systematically, with particular attention to reproductive organs, neurological structure, and the physiological markers associated with psionic capacity. The examination surface is consistently described as hard, white or gray, at a height that requires the citizen to be lifted onto it.

Genetic extraction follows examination in the majority of structured encounters. The extraction program employs multiple collection technologies. Human genetic material is among the most actively pursued biological resources in the interaction environment; Section 8, The Question of Intent, addresses what makes it so and what the operators pursuing it intend. Each extraction method constitutes a sovereignty violation regardless of the authority under which it is conducted.

Male extraction methods:

Chemical or field-based arousal induction occurs: a substance or atmospheric compound administered within the craft environment producing extreme and prolonged sexual arousal, functioning as a compliance mechanism that bypasses voluntary participation. The arousal state is the procedure's enabling condition, engineered to produce the biological response required for collection.

Direct prostate stimulation via anal probe is a second method, a mechanical extraction approach that bypasses arousal entirely, producing ejaculation through direct neural stimulation of the prostate gland. Witnesses who have recovered memory of this procedure consistently describe it as clinical in execution and distinguished from other examination procedures by its specific anatomical targeting.

Standard reproductive sampling, tissue sampling, fluid collection, and direct sperm extraction, occurs in the majority of structured encounters involving male subjects.

Female extraction methods:

Ovum extraction via needle is among the most consistent procedures in female encounters. A long, thin instrument is inserted, typically described as entering through the navel or lower abdomen, producing pain that witnesses describe as distinct from other examination procedures. The procedure is brief. Its purpose is the extraction of viable ova for use in hybridization processes conducted outside the witness's body and knowledge.

Implantation followed by extraction is the most disturbing pattern in female encounters. Women report confirmed pregnancy, sometimes medically verified, followed by sudden disappearance of the pregnancy at approximately four to six weeks, without miscarriage, without bleeding, without the biological markers of natural pregnancy loss. The pregnancy is ended from outside; the developing material is removed. Descriptions of the subsequent discovery of hybrid children during later encounters, children the witness recognizes as their own but has no memory of delivering, are consistent across independent sources spanning decades and multiple cultural contexts.

Tissue and fluid sampling rounds out the female extraction profile, consistent with the broader biological cataloging program operating across encounters.

Biological aftermath of reproductive encounters:

Reproductive encounter procedures carry biological hazard consequences distinct from proximity radiation and dermal contamination. Two profiles appear with sufficient consistency to warrant documentation. The first involves radiation-consistent illness following reproductive contact: persistent skin lesions with yellow discharge, systemic weakness, headaches, burning sensations in the eyes, and progressive physical deterioration beginning within days and persisting for months, consistent with proximity exposure to electromagnetic or radiological fields generated during craft-based reproductive procedures. The second involves aggressive viral presentations following reproductive contact with Grey-type collection units: rapid-onset, treatment-resistant viral infection producing systemic involvement beyond the typical presentation of any known terrestrial variant. The transmission vector is direct biological contact during the encounter. The human immune system has no evolved defense against the viral agent: it is engineered or non-terrestrial in origin, outside the range of anything human immunity has developed to recognize. The two biologies interface closely enough to sustain the hybridization program described in this section, so what overwhelms the immune response here is the novelty of the agent introduced during the procedure. Citizens who undergo reproductive procedures in encounter contexts and subsequently present with unusual skin lesions, persistent systemic illness, or aggressive viral symptoms should seek medical assessment and document the encounter in full.

Implantation: small objects placed within the body through methods that leave no entry wound visible at the skin surface. Objects subsequently extracted and analyzed have been found to consist of meteoritic iron alloy in the hexahedrite class, with traces of cobalt, iridium, nickel, and boron, ranging from one to ten millimeters in form, as rods, spheres, or irregular fragments. The membrane encasing them resists standard surgical instruments and prevents inflammatory tissue response. The absence of inflammatory response, which every terrestrial foreign body in human tissue reliably produces, is the most diagnostically significant physical feature. Proposed functions include biotelemetry, longitudinal tracking, and possible communication or influence vectors. Some extracted objects have emitted radio frequency signals under laboratory conditions.

Psychological probing: the citizen's memories, fears, relationships, and belief structures are accessed and examined. Some citizens report this as neutral data-gathering. Others report it as deeply invasive, the sensation of being read completely without consent.

Restorative outcomes:

The aftermath runs in both directions. A consistent minority of encounters shows medical benefit: chronic conditions brought into remission, wounds and infections resolved, and a marked concentration of cancers reported as cleared. These restorations sometimes follow a procedure carried out on the same kind of table that, for another subject, performs extraction. The architecture is shared, and the intent behind it is what differs.

Three factors govern which outcome a citizen meets. The first is the actor: across the catalog, conduct ranges from clinical extraction to indifferent collection to handling that is actively protective, so the same procedure carries different meaning in different hands. The second is coherence. A citizen holding a high, stable coherence field presents differently to an encountering intelligence, and that state is associated with gentler handling and with the restorative end of the range (Section 13). The third is lineage significance: a subject whose familial line carries weight in the tracking programs described above receives a degree of maintenance and protection beyond what a peripheral subject draws, the body treated as an asset worth keeping intact.

Communication:

Communication in encounter contexts is almost universally described as non-linguistic. Information arrives complete, a concept, an image, a sequence of meaning, without words or voice. The citizen understands fully without having heard anything spoken. In some encounters the communication is addressed to the citizen. In others it is ambient, an information field that the citizen finds themselves within. Visual overlay appears in a subset of encounters: images and scenarios inserted directly into the citizen's perception, sometimes informational and sometimes screening mechanisms, replacement content installed over the actual encounter material to limit what the citizen retains.

Screen memory and return:

Deliberate modification of encounter memory occurs. The classic form: the citizen remembers approaching a threshold, a doorway, a light, a figure, and then finds themselves back in their ordinary environment with no intervening memory. What fills the gap varies: animals are common, dream sequences, domestic scenarios. The replacement content is consistently less threatening than what it replaces.

Return is sometimes to a different location from acquisition, sometimes to a different physical position, sometimes with clothing disturbed or incorrectly arranged, and sometimes with a single personal item missing: one glove, one shoe, an object carried into the encounter and kept. A minority of participants return in a sustained motor lock, fixed posture, unresponsive, a grip that requires another person's hands to release; the state resolves over the following hours, and a companion locked this way needs calm handling and time. The return process carries less precision than the acquisition process, a fact that produces some of the most credible physical evidence. Citizens have woken in fields having gone to sleep in their beds. Family members have found themselves in different seats with no memory of moving. Clothing has been found inside out with no memory of it being changed.

Spatial displacement on return, waking at a location different from the acquisition point, sometimes miles away, represents one of the most disorienting elements of the return experience. Citizens who find themselves suddenly disoriented at an unfamiliar location with no memory of how they arrived should immediately seek grounding and human contact, assess their physical state, and document everything they can recall before any conversation with others. The disorientation resolves, sometimes within minutes, sometimes over hours, but the initial window of confusion is the highest-risk period for account contamination. Physical symptoms in this window include: spatial disorientation, mild nausea, visual disturbance, unusual cold or warmth, and a sense of time discontinuity. All of these are consistent with the temporal field differential in Section 5 — the transition back from an environment in which time was running at a different rate into the standard temporal metric of normal space.

The Rendering Problem

The variability across encounters reflects something established in Section 2: human perception is a species-specific interface with finite resolution and a set of rendering defaults. The brain renders what it can from available reference material and fills the rest with the nearest familiar equivalent. The split is lopsided. Two citizens in the same encounter agree on the large majority of what they report, on the order of nine parts in ten: the core architecture of the being and the event holds across both accounts. The remaining tenth is where the reports diverge, and that tenth is the brain's own work. It arises from the entity's partial presence in our dimension. A being that is only partly manifested delivers incomplete sensory data, and each brain closes the gaps from its own internal library, which produces the contradictions in color, height, eye size, or apparent solidity that two honest witnesses report. The consistent architecture sits beneath that surface variation; the rendered details vary on top of it.

The Human Parallel Program

Structured NHI encounters trigger parallel follow-up by human operatives conducting their own examination: seeking what occurred, what was implanted, what information was transmitted, what the citizen was shown. A structured NHI encounter initiates two separate sequences of follow-up contact: one non-human, one human, with different methods, different purposes, and no coordination between them. Methods used by the human program are covered in Supplement B — Men in Black.

A second follow-up pattern runs openly and across years, and the citizen attends it by appointment. The route is a legitimate care channel: an experiencer presenting with encounter-related symptoms is offered treatment, attendance is tied to benefits or standing the citizen depends on, and the sessions are instrumented. The diagnostic marker is contradiction, where the same institution treats the citizen for a condition arising from an event it declines to acknowledge. Held as reported. Consent to treatment is separable from consent to instrumentation, and the two can be answered differently in the same appointment.

Contact Frequency and Population Biology

Structured abduction and contact events were rare in the earlier period, rose sharply across several decades, peaked in cultural visibility and reported frequency, then declined markedly in the most recent period. The mainstream explanations for this decline focus on cultural template shifts, the ubiquity of recording technology making uncorroborated accounts less credible, and growing skepticism about hypnosis-recovered memory methodology as a reliable retrieval tool for encounter experience.

These explanations are plausible and may be partially correct. The citizen should also note a convergence of data that the mainstream explanations overlook. The period of peak reported structured contact coincides with the period before microplastic and endocrine-disrupting chemical accumulation reached current saturation levels in the human population. From the latter part of that window onward, and accelerating sharply thereafter, peer-reviewed endocrinology research documents progressive contamination of the reproductive system and the pineal gland with microplastic particles and their associated chemical payloads. The effects include measurable reproductive toxicity, infertility, oxidative stress in gonadal tissue, and disruption of the pineal's melatonin regulatory cycle, precisely the biological systems that the hybridization and genetic extraction program described throughout this section depends on.

The hybridization program requires viable human reproductive biology and, in its contact and developmental dimensions, functional human psionic architecture. Reproductive viability is now compromised at population scale by environmental contamination that sat at far lower saturation during the period of peak contact activity. The same contamination presses on the psionic architecture, even as the population-scale reactivation described in Section 8 pushes the other way; that trajectory is contested.

The contact programs described in this guide are operated by intelligences with access to non-linear time. Timeline correction (returning to earlier periods to preserve or repair a viable genetic baseline) is listed among the purposes of structured contact in the Why It Happens section above. The cause of the decline remains an open question, with four candidate explanations:

• Reduced operational necessity: the pre-divergence template the collection required has been largely secured, and the divergence now underway (Section 8) is closing the window on what remains
• Reduced human reproductive viability, making current populations less useful for hybridization
• A shift in operational methods toward less detectable approaches
• A change in cultural template that suppresses reporting

Another possibility is a governance arrangement between elements of terrestrial authority and an operating faction, under which a bounded and formalized level of contact was tolerated in exchange for technological transfer. Whether any such arrangement existed lies beyond what this guide can establish. The conduct pattern is evidence in its own right: subjects returned alive, memory managed, physical harm minimized, held uniform across decades and operating units. Conduct that consistent has the shape of stipulated terms, and stipulated terms imply a counterparty with standing to set them. If one did, its expiration, renegotiation, or collapse would shift operational tempo on its own, independent of the biological factors above.

The Return Bias:

The account of method and intent in this section is assembled entirely from citizens who came back. Every description of the procedure, its handling, and its aftermath comes from a subject the operating party released, and the picture carries that selection built in: it is an accurate account of how returned subjects are treated, drawn from the population that lived to describe it.

A separate outcome sits outside that population. In a subset of cases the subject is taken and remains absent, and the encounter leaves only its opening signature, the light, the field effects, the corroborating witnesses, while the subject who would complete the account remains among the absent. Ordinary causes absorb some of these. The remainder share the full precursor pattern of a standard encounter and differ only in outcome. The citizen holds this section as a picture of returns: accurate within its scope, and bounded by who came home to supply it.

What the citizen can do stays the same through all of it. This section holds the most destabilizing material in the guide, and it is presented in full because accurate information is itself a stabilizing instrument: the citizen who understands an encounter can meet it from a gathered state. Sovereignty holds regardless of lineage, prior agreement, or operator intent. The onset window described above is real, and the coherence protocols in Section 9 and Section 13 are designed to be used inside it. A citizen who knows the architecture, recognizes the precursors, and holds a stable field remains a participant in the event, with rights, recourse, and the capacity to assess from within it.

The woman is at her kitchen table by seven, and the first thing she notices is that her hands are steady. The night reached the part of her that can be frightened and found it occupied. Underneath that part, the one the fear was happening to sat where it always sits, unmoved, and she felt the seam between them in the dark and carries it with her now. She tells her husband over breakfast in an ordinary voice, in the order it happened, a report from someone who was present for her own life. She writes it down before noon, because a clear account is worth keeping. Then she goes out into the day as a person who has met what comes in the night and learned, from the inside, where the part of her beyond its reach begins.
